Local America 250 is Theme of CVEF's Talk of the Towns on March 14th

Talk of the Towns – a quartet of lively 10-minute talks – is returning! On March 14, at 7pm, four local experts will inform and educate those attending the event in the Galluzzo Theater at Middlefield’s Independent Day School. The evening is free and open to the public.

In celebration of America’s 250th birthday this year, the presenters will each offer a glimpse into their unique perspective of that period in the country’s history.

Kristina Poznan, PhD, will talk about daily life in the 1770s, bringing in related insights from her work as a historian and history educator.

A lifelong Durham resident, Brendan Rea, Jr, will share his knowledge about what Durham did during the Revolutionary War to support the cause of independence, including quartering units of George Washington’s Army.

Offering a different perspective, Diana Ross McCain, an expert on local history, will educate participants about how the Revolutionary War pitted neighbor against neighbor right here in Middlefield.

Finally, John Coleman Darnell and Colleen Darnell will offer their expertise on Egyptian Revival Architecture in Connecticut.

IDS is located at 115 Laurel Brook Road in Middlefield. Talk of the Towns is presented every two years by the Coginchaug Valley Education Foundation. This year's emcee will be Durham resident and longtime educator Norm Hicks.
