The Role
Vista is seeking a Recreation Program Instructor to support students and members in developing life skills, work skills, social supports, and community integration opportunities that promote greater independence and success.

The ideal candidate will have an awareness of disability issues, sound counseling practices, and experience supporting individuals in developing daily living, communication, and problem-solving skills. This role requires flexibility, initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide instruction and support across a variety of community and program settings.

What You’ll Do

  • Train students and members to perform necessary life skills, work skills, and understand the social culture of various work and community locations.
  • Respond to situations as they occur using appropriate training, intervention, and instruction strategies that support success.
  • Assist in verbal and written evaluations of prospective students and members interested in attending the Connect Day Program.
  • Role model and teach social skills, life skills, communication skills, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills.
  • Lead instructional and recreational groups within the Connect Day Program.
  • Evaluate student and member progress and provide appropriate training and interventions.
  • Transport students and members to community sites using either a personal vehicle or Vista vehicle in a variety of settings and weather conditions.
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma plus one year of related experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record as defined by Vista.
  • Public Service License or ability to obtain endorsement within 90 days of hire.
  • CPR and First Aid, PMT certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to work independently, utilize good judgment, and demonstrate strong initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Hourly Rate: $20.40, plus eligible mileage reimbursement
