Plywood Cowboy – Live CD Recording
Formed in 2015 in the Connecticut River Valley, Plywood Cowboy is poised to rewrite the American Songbook. “With great harmonies, clever songs and tasty guitar pickin’, Plywood Cowboy is one of the best new bands on the Americana scene.” (Chris Bergson, NY Blues Hall of Fame Inductee). Their heart-born songs interweave the rich heritage of earthy, country roots with the sentimental poignancy of singer-songwriter traditions. Bottle-fed on roots music, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Steve Dedman and his band strike deep at the soul of American music with songs about hound dogs, heart strings, and the vice of the bottle.
Plywood Cowboy’s newest digital single, Stray, was recorded at Riverway Studio in East Haddam, CT with producer and Grammy-nominated composer Ira Sakolsky. The first release since their 2016 debut EP “Channel 33”, Stray tells the story of a love led astray and the guilt and forgiveness that ensues. The haunting violin, ethereal male-female harmonies, and delicate, soulful guitars lend a contemplative tone to the tale of regret and redemption. The character-driven song is in keeping with “Channel 33” which paints a story with each song in the EP. “Channel 33” has been called “a gorgeously assured collection of songs” (The Shoreline Times), “a seriously hooky debut EP” (The Day), and “steeped in tradition, with lyrics full of longing, truth and heart” (Sound Waves Magazine).
