PROGRAM
Identifying Risk Factors and Warning Signs of Depression in
Children Struggling with Crisis
Mentors fill important adult roles in children’s lives. Mentors get to know children as they listen, read, help with homework and play games. Mentors also provide nurturing and support. The ongoing relationship between a mentor and child provides an opportunity to look for changes and signs of distress. Join us at the Mentor Roundtable on February 11, 2015 to discuss depression in children, and which school staff members, mentors should approach with their concerns.
Lisa Mason, Community Health Liaison, Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council will present a guided discussion, and provide handouts on this very important topic.
· Learn the risk factors that increase the possibility of depression in children
· Identify the warning signs for children who may be depressed
· How to help a child who is struggling and may be in crisis
