Daffodil Day at Wadsworth Mansion
The Wadsworth Mansion will host their annual spring event: Daffodil Day-on Sunday, April 24th, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estate, 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown. This family event will be held rain or shine and there is no charge for admission, although donations are welcome and appreciated. A plethora of indoor and outdoor activities include: ? 1:00-3:30 Docent Tours ? 1:15 Bubble Fun demonstration in the East Ballroom ? 1:30 Guided Trail Hike leave from the front of the Mansion ? 2:00 "Daffodil Dash" a Field Day for the whole family ? 2:30 Live music performance Featuring Cash Lane Slim in West Ballroom ? 3:30 Dog Parade Join in the fun of our 1st Annual ?Daffodil Dash,? a mini-Olympiad of classic Wadsworth Era games! Teams of up to 4 persons may pre-register, or register on the day from 1:30-2:00, until the contest is full. Competitors of all ages should be prepared to hop, leap, toss, and race their way across the vista beginning at 2:00. Start putting together your teams (families, friends, neighbors) to compete and become the Daffodil Dash Champions! For those satisfied with their blue ribbon collections, this will be a spectator sport. At 1:00pm in the East Ballroom, Mr. Bungles will demonstrate how to make incredible bubbles in an entertaining show that encourages the crowed to explore the world of bubble fun including the chance to be inside a bubble! Following the show, a bubble station on the terrace will include a machine that shoots out hundreds of bubbles a minute, wands of all sizes from a stronger homemade bubble fluid that allows bubbles to be 10 feet long! Enjoy live music in the West Ballroom at 2:30 by Cash Lane Slim, an acoustic hybrid guitarist and vocalist; a songwriter in the American experience. His musical styling will take you on a trip though the heart of Americana with a blend of folk, rock, blues and more. Dress your dog in a fun and creative costume for the dog parade on the vista at 3:30. The parade will be led by Riley, the Wadsworth Mansion mascot. Ongoing throughout the afternoon, docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate will lead guided tours of the Mansion providing a narrative that details the history of the estate. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family will be on display in the History Room. Chet's Italian Ice, NoRA Cupcakes, Mercado Food Truck, and Ninis Pizza Truck will tantalize visitors with delicious food sold from their food trucks. Guests are encouraged bring a kite to fly on the vista, enjoy independently the 103 acres of parklands and view the daffodils.
