Coalition on Housing & Homelessness Presents an Evening at the Ivoryton Playhouse
CHH will present an evening of entertainment featuring the Ivoryton Playhouse production of A Night with Janis Joplin. The production is a musical journey celebrating Janis and her biggest musical influences—Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith.
You may not realize it, but Janis is a perfect illustration of the people we help. She knew times of homelessness, suffered with addictions, and felt disconnected from almost everyone. But, there’s a joyous part, too – she had a talent that electrified us. Same goes for the people we serve. Yes, they struggle with all sorts of problems, but every one of them has something positive to offer, once they begin to operate from stable housing. Other issues can be tackled and progress towards a productive life can begin. Housing the homeless not only helps them, it’s also helping communities save up to 70 percent on public services.*
So, how about it? Can you break off just a little piece of your heart to help us continue solving the issue of homelessness? Before the show, guests are invited to enjoy luscious appetizers, desserts and wine under a tent on the side of the historic Playhouse and at intermission guests are welcomed back to the tent for chocolates and cordials.
