10th Annual 18-Hole-Stroll at the Travelers Championship on The Way to Hit One-Million-Dollar Milestone Cromwell, CT, April 5, 2019

On Sunday, June 23rd, 23-year-old Brittany Vose will host the 10th annual Lustgarten18-Hole-Stroll at the Travelers Championship, a PGA TOUR event. The nine previous 18-Hole-Strolls have collectively raised more than half-a-million dollars, with donations going to the Lustgarten Foundation, the nation’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research and the only non-profit where 100% of every dollar goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.

This year, Brittany hopes to draw more attendees to the walk to help her reach her ultimate goal of raising one-million-dollars for pancreatic cancer research.

“I have a personal connection to this walk and this disease, and I am honored that the walk is now in its 10th year and that we have been able to raise such an impressive amount for pancreatic cancer research,” said Brittany Vose, who created this event in 2009 when she was just 13 years old. Brittany started the 18-Hole-Stroll, an early morning walk at TPC River Highlands Golf Course during the Travelers Championship, in honor of her father, John Vose, who died of pancreatic cancer when she was just five years old and he was only 44.

Event registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Early bird registration is $40 per adult. After May 1st,the fee is $50 per adult, and $15 per child (15 and younger). Registration includes an all-day pass for entrance to the tournament for Championship Sunday, continental breakfast, entertainment, purple t-shirt representing pancreatic cancer research, speakers and a silent auction. All attendees should wear their t-shirt at the 18th hole during the awards ceremony.

Since the Lustgarten Foundation’s inception 20 years ago, progress has been made against this disease, and there has never been a more hopeful time for patients. To date, the Foundation has directed more than $165 million to pancreatic cancer research and is the only non-profit in the country to have four dedicated pancreatic cancer research laboratories, located at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Johns Hopkins, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Because of these labs, more resources, time and talent are being put toward this disease. Pancreatic cancer has a five-year survival rate in the single digits and has no early detection tests, no effective long-term treatments and, unless the cancer is surgically removed in its earliest stages,no cure. This year, more than 56,000 cases will be diagnosed, and more than 45,000 people will die from pancreatic cancer in the United States. The Lustgarten Foundation is working to change these statistics by advancing the scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure of pancreatic cancer. About the Lustgarten Foundation The Lustgarten Foundation is America's largest private foundation dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research. Based in Woodbury, N.Y., the Foundation supports research to find a cure for pancreatic cancer, facilitates dialogue within the medical and scientific community, and educates the public about the disease through awareness campaigns and fundraising events. Since its inception, the Lustgarten Foundation has directed $165 million to research and assembled the best scientific minds with the hope that one day, a cure can be found. Thanks to separate funding to support administrative expenses, 100 percent of your donation goes directly to pancreatic cancer research. For more information, please visit www.lustgarten.org.
