About Us
The Middletown Police Benefit Association (MPBA) Bagpipe Band is a non-profit corporation made up active and retired Police Officers, Firefighters, EMS Personnel and like-minded civilians.
The Middletown Police Benefit Association Bagpipe and Drum Band got its start in July 2012 when a determined group of active and retired Middletown Police officers decided to pick up bagpipesâdespite not having the slightest clue how to play them (or, in some cases, any instrument at all). What started as a bold leap of faith quickly turned into a passionate pursuit of music, tradition, and community.
Since those early, squeaky-note-filled days, the band has grown in both size and skill. Welcoming members from outside the police force, itâs now a lively, dedicated group that proudly performs at public safety ceremonies and community events. While the band doesnât compete (often), they train and play to a level that could give the pros a run for their tartan. Equal parts heart, heritage, and harmony, the Middletown PBA is marching to the beat of traditionâone powerful note at a time.
