As part of UCONN Extension’s 12th anniversary of Bug Week, please join us for a lively morning of insect exploration at The Big Bug Walk, a hands-on event on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UCONN Middlesex County Extension Center, 1066 Saybrook Road, Haddam.
This featured event is designed to help people of all ages learn about, appreciate and explore the amazing world of insects and their relatives.
Special guest is Dr. Srikanth Kodati, Assistant Extension Educator for pesticide safety and crop protection. Dr. Kodati will lead a bug walk for children and guests, complete with nets and collection kits to help identify various bugs.
The dissecting microscope from the office will be set up so attendees can take a closer look at insects. Sri agreed to bring a few preserved insects for people to look at.
Activities include bug hunts in the demonstration gardens, a composting station, live insect displays, insect-themed crafts and games, snacks, plants, seeds and educational giveaways.
The family-friendly event is FREE and open to the public. For more information, visit www.Bugs.UCONN.edu/.
