“Give Sorrow Words….” Shakespeare’s advice. This workshop challenges us to explore why we avoid thinking about death and dying, and its impact in our own lives and those of our clients. Grief will be presented as a process, or journey, that is part of all relationships, which not only can be, but also must be spoken. Culture and Ethnic background can help or hinder how we experience Bereavement. We will look at how different theories of grief, from Biblical times to Freud, (including recent research on Disenfranchised Grief) have evolved as well as creative ways to integrate music, and the arts to help create healing rituals. “..The grief that does not speak whispers the o’er fraught heart and bids it break”. This training has been approved for 3.75 Continuing Education Credit Hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT (NASW) and Connection Certification Board (CCB).
