LCSW Early Intervention Diagnostic Specialist

OBJECTIVE: Provide early intervention evaluation, assessment, plan development and consultation to infants, toddlers, and their families enrolled in the KIDSTEPS Birth to Three Program at Lumibility. Ensure the development and implementation of activities that are family-centered and promote positive outcomes for persons served.

HOURS OF DUTY: Full Time, Exempt

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluate and assess children and families to assist with and plan, develop, implement, and review IFSP's that will meet the individual developmental needs of young children and their families.
  • Provide autism assessments as well as eligibility and annual evaluations and assessments in accordance with Birth to Three guidelines to all regions covered by Lumibility KIDSTEPS Early Intervention Program.
  • Complete and maintain records in accordance with applicable regulations and as assigned, including timely completion of evaluation and assessment reports.
  • Provide support as part of a transdisciplinary team in the form of consultation and teaming conversations.
  • Communicate effectively through a family-centered philosophy, and respect for cultural diversity with families, staff, and community representatives.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, guidelines and best practices providing Birth to Three early intervention services.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings and in period regional and staff meetings with early intervention professionals.
  • Assist in promoting and supporting community awareness and relationships of Lumibility and KIDSTEPS.
  • If bilingual, provide interpretation and translation for families during services as needed.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSW) according to CT Birth to Three Policies and Procedures (if applicable).
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess & maintain valid Connecticut license per CT Birth to Three professional regulations.
  • Knowledge of early intervention best practices, childhood development, family systems, and disabilities
  • Knowledge of evaluation, assessment and diagnostic resources and best practices.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures and applicable regulatory requirements and standards
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Skill in working with families and children with differing abilities
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment, computer, and various software packages
  • Ability to read and understand policies and regulations and to translate general guidelines into specific action
  • Ability to demonstrate good written and verbal communication, cultural sensitivity, and interpersonal skills necessary to provide information to families and staff
  • Ability to work successfully, both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work flexible hours and drive/travel to varying locations as needed.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to sit, stand and walk at an assigned location(s) and work for extended periods of time; bend/stoop, kneel and balance frequently; climb, reach above shoulder level; push/pull, squat and crouch occasionally; with assistance, lift, carry and position individuals of various weight. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to drive for extended periods throughout the day.
