COMMUNITY BREAST HEALTH NAVIGATOR

 

Temporary/Grant Funded Position (Flexible Hours)

 

Summary:

This position will provide community outreach to promote breast health and breast cancer screening, particularly among individuals who experience barriers to care and are not currently receiving recommended care.

 

 
  • Coordinate breast health outreach opportunities throughout Middlesex County.

  • Attend health events at churches and community organizations.

  • Seek out opportunities to reach underserved women.  

  • Provide basic breast health education.  Facilitate appointments for breast cancer screening and diagnosis; identify resources to address barriers to care (e.g. transportation, childcare).  

  • Maintain accurate record of outreach activities and individuals reached.  

  • Work closely with the Health Education and Grants Coordinator and breast health team.

  • Other job related duties as assigned. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license with good driving record and reliable transportation

  • Enjoys working with people; courteous and personable

  • Ability to utilize existing relationships and build new relationships with community organizations (e.g. soup kitchens, food pantries, churches, social service organizations) to reach underserved 

women

Preferred Qualifications:  

 

  • Passion for health equity and reducing health disparities

  • Be a self-starter; willing to take initiative; ability to work independently

  • Public speaking skills

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • Ability to use G Suite (e.g. Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets)
