Job Description
The Middlesex YMCA is recruiting Youth Leaders to work with children in kindergarten through fifth grades in our state licensed before and after school programs for the 2018-2019 school year. Individuals must have previous childcare experience and be enthusiastic, reliable and motivated. Individuals will be hired based on their ability to be positive role models for children and to demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Youth leaders are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of program participants at all times. Job duties include planning and facilitating daily recreational and educational activities including art, drama, music, science, literacy, homework and active play. Applicants are also required to be a team player and assist other program staff in the set up and clean-up of the program site. All employees must understand and follow all licensing requirements mandated by the CT Office of Early Childhood.

This job is part time (25 hours per week). Hours are M-F from 7-9 am and/or 3-6 pm. Range of pay is $10.30 to $11.50 an hour based on experience. This position is a seasonal position (school year 2018-2019) and candidates must be available for training. Benefits include professional development opportunities and YMCA membership (fitness).

All youth leaders must be able to obtain a current TB Test and physical and have reliable transportation. Youth leaders will also receive a DCF and criminal background check in order to be eligible for employment. All employees receive professional development training prior to their employment and monthly throughout the school year.
