Job Summary
Durham Market is searching for a Part-time Deli Clerk who is self-motivated and courteous to all customers making them feel welcomed and valued within a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills are a must. The position includes evenings and weekend hours with some holidays.
Responsibilities and Duties

The Deli Clerk will be a team player and display an efficient approach to handling customer requests, questions, and complaints.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing responsive, exceptional service to deli counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations, and responding to requests.
  • Utilizing upselling techniques to move products.
  • Recommending, slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing meats and cheeses.
  • Operating equipment, such as meat and cheese slicers, scales, cash registers, etc.
  • Preparing deli items, special orders and party trays.
  • Filling, maintaining, and rotating products and displays.
  • Updating displays, cases, and other customer facing areas to ensure new items and promotions are showcased.
  • Ensuring that work areas are ready to service customers by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors, removing trash, and confirming that tools are in working order.
  • Comprehending and follow all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies.
  • Keeping busy by doing what needs to be done in the store such as operating the cash register.
  • Thoroughly complete all opening and closing tasks as assigned to their shift.
  • Following all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies.
  • Confirming that all displays, products, and services comply with company standards.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18.
  • Deli counter or food preparation experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and math skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow all company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation.
