GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Northern Middlesex YMCA is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to oversee our First Class facilities at YMCA Camp Ingersoll.   Under the supervision of the Camp Director, the Facility Director is responsible for all maintenance and janitorial duties before, during and after the summer camp season.  The qualified candidate will have the necessary skill sets to make facility improvements and make YMCA Camp Ingersoll a safe and attractive outdoor center.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES :
  • Safety conscious
  • Minor carpentry
  • Plumbing, working with copper and pvc
  • Minor electrical
  • Painting
  • Landscaping, string trimming, etc.
  • Janitorial, mopping, cleaning and restocking
  • Supervisory and management skills
    • supervise seasonal employee, volunteers, and volunteer work groups
  • Time Management skills
  • Small engine repair/ familiarity
  • Good communication skills
    • Ability to demonstrate a friendly, courteous, cooperative, and professional manner when dealing with staff, campers, families, and vendors.
  • Ability to work within a budget
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to take initiative
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
  • Valid CT Drivers License
  • Experience in facilities and site management, energy management, maintenance of building standards, and asset control management.

  • Participate in applicable training and conferences to further professional growth as outlined in annual training plan.
  • Follow YMCA dress code and wear YMCA nametag during all shifts. Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Represents the YMCA and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  1. Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  3. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  4. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  5. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  6. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

  3. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
  4. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  5. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
  6. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  7. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  8. While performing functions of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
